Welcome to La Tour

La Tour, Charras, South-West France

Guests staying at La Tour have their own private terrace on a different level, hidden away with lovely green views. Inside is suitably pared-back and unfussy: tiled floors, some exposed stone walls, lots of light and space, books and games.

Up steep wooden stairs find the master bedroom with its ensuite bathroom, up another flight for a double and a twin sharing a shower room. All have magnificent views. The open-plan kitchen and dining room has a roomy table and a door out to the terrace for easy summer lunches. A welcome pack of fresh French produce will be waiting.

We appear on the much acclaimed Sawdays website, handpicked and assessed in order to be part of their wonderful collection of unique holidays gites.

The front door leads you straight into the salon - a subtly furnished rooms that echo the past whilst enjoying comfort whichever the season. The roaring open fire is a sight to behold in the chillier months.

Gentle steps down to the kitchen and open, winding wooden steps take you up to the bedrooms. (Note: not for the faint hearted or those wobbly on their feet!)

  • Bedroom Photos

On the first floor is the master ensuite with double aspect views over the grounds and far away into horizon.

On the second floor are two further rooms, one with a double the other housing a twin. Also on this floor is a separate shower and toilet. The low square portal style windows add to the atmosphere of truly being in a tall tower, peeping through the window you’ll see the inner skirt of the majestic turret itself

  • Swimming Pool

Beautifully hidden behind an ancient water tower and enclosed former trout pond is the heated pool. Perfectly sized with plenty of space around the edges to laze the day away.

(Note: not open all year round, please enquire for specific opening and closing dates each season)

  • The Chateau Grounds

Part of an Italian renaissance inspired 18th-century chateau, the impressive architecture, grand terraces and swooping stone balustrades are sure to take your breath away.

Sitting in a picturesque valley, the tower offers magnificent views of the impressive chateau gardens and surrounding French countryside. As well as your own private terrace, you’ll have access to the grounds and the chateau’s shared facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis court and outdoor table tennis table.

  • The surrounding countryside and towns

You're on the edge of a small village in a deeply rural area between Charente, Dordogne and Limousin.

There’s a village bakery, an epicerie and little restaurant, Le Tournesol. All on your doorstep, what more could you need!

The towns of Angoulême and Brantôme are just half an hour, there are some wonderful markets and châteaux, and rivers for kayaking.
